Smart glasses, or smartglasses, are a wearable computing device in the form of computerized eyeglasses. Early smart glasses had limited functionality and typically employed non-interactive miniature video monitors that were simply plugged into a local video source. Modern devices possess enhanced data processing functionality, similar to a smartphone or tablet, and are able to run a wide range of mobile apps. The most recent smart glasses also include speciality features such as augmented reality overlays, integrated video cameras, GPS and mapping capability, voice controlled user interfaces and more. As components continue to shrink, the potential for what can be squeezed into these head-borne wearable computing devices is limitless.
