The A.I-Watch Smartwatch is a smartwatch/cellular phone hybrid. It sports a formidable 1.54″ color touch display trimmed with a stainless steel bezel attached to a silicone or leather band. The A.I-Watch is currently in development having closed its unsuccessful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign December 8, 2013. A.I. only secured subscriber commitments for $32,163 of its $100,000 funding goal. Although a functioning prototype exists and the A.I. team attended CES 2014, it is uncertain as to whether development of this smartwatch will continue.
The A.I-Watch Facebook page has seen a good deal of activity lately with what look like images of prototypes being posted on March 13, 2014. In addition, the manufacturer has discussed component procurement and PCBA assembly. It looks like A.I. is still moving forward, but we would still like to see an official press release from the company detailing a roadmap and timetable for smartwatch production and distribution.
The A.I-Watch Smartwatch La Vie Collection is the basic package retailing for $249 and allows the purchaser to choose between 7 colored silicone bands. Upgrading to the Luxury Tech Collection, priced at $299, provides either a black or brown textured leather band. And, for a whopping $499, you can adorn yourself with a sure-to-be-noticed gold plated A.I-Watch.
